About The Awaaz Project
“The humanities belong to everyone.”
Awaaz, meaning voice in Urdu, was founded to fill a major gap in the Pakistani education system: the humanities. As education expands and initiatives across the country grew, we noticed a concerning imbalance between key critical thinking subjects like History, Economics, Politics and Literature and STEM subjects. While both are core to a child's development, the humanities are underrepresented in all facets of the education system and that is the problem we aim to solve. Our mission is simple: train schools and teachers on best practice methods for the humanities and equip them with the teaching resources, expert communication and lesson plans they need to provide the highest possible quality of education.
What We Believe
Critical thinking is necessary for helping the next generation drive innovation and societal change.
The humanities are underfunded yet essential, especially in today’s world of AI and technology, where individuality matters more than ever.
Every child deserves a shot at the subjects that have always been reserved for the elite.

Meet The Founder
Aleesha, 16
Hi! I'm the founder of The Awaaz Project, Aleesha. I am 16 years old from Karachi, Pakistan but based in Dubai at Dubai College. I became well versed in the humanities from a young age with interests in reading, writing and debate. As I expanded my academic journey towards Latin, History, Politics, Ancient Greek and Economics, I began to realise how pivotal of a role these subjects played in forming my identity and passions. Wanting others to experience the same journey fostered from a young age, I became increasingly frustrated with the lack of attention towards the humanities in my home country of Pakistan. This frustration is what led me to setting up The Awaaz Project. My goal with this foundation is to ensure that no child ever feels like they are not privileged enough to access these core skills and that critical thinking can be accessible regardless of race, class or gender. I hope to expand this movement to ensure children across the region can walk down the same path that led me to where I am today.
